    For me, his voice matured to perfection there. Unfortunately, it didn't get any better after that. However, the subsequent History album was another masterpiece and (on the album) he was back on top form.

    It was Michael's own choice to speed up songs when doing them live. I assume he made the faster to be more dancable for him.

    people always talk about Michae using playbacks - which he did in award shows and later on most of History tour - but people don't realize he HAD to use playback when he did, in the award shows it was to preserve his voice, but for History he was actually diagnosed with Laryngitis and a pretty severe one... so he had to resort to Playback. but his staff said, he always actually did sing with the play back and there were shows in History he was able to sing more live - people are forgetting he was dealing with real health issues... and he couldn't cancel shows nor did he want to. but for most of his life, he sang live... people seem to forget that by History the man was performing for almost 30 years, and it takes its tall on the vocal cords - especially with something like Lupus

  • @spirit0805

    now - the spikes are only helping to stebalize them so they are secured and not fall, but everything else is them, he is going down at a 45 degree angel, stops there and then back up again... you need some MASSIVE core streangth to do it. there were shows the went down too much he actually fell - the spikes only helped keeping them in place

    Aww so adorable little Michael! So nice that you noticed that he's like adult Michael, if you watch interviews of him when he was a kid and then interviews of him as an adult it's literally the same age 5 to 50, his mannerisms and behavior stayed the same, he was like stagnant personality and emotionally wise, you or I are not the same person as when we were 5, or 15 or 25, but because of all that unparalleled stardom, such a sheltered, unusual and abusive upbringing filled with toxic adult traits like performing at strip-clubs, groupies and working 16 hours a day at a young age, Michael seemed to regress backwards to his childhood while we move forward into adulthood, it seems that he had to grow up too fast and too soon and when he was younger he had to act more like an adult but as he got to adulthood, his repressed childlike tendencies started to show, it kind reminds me of what Brooke Shields who knew him for years said about him in interviews over the years and her speech at his memorial, that there was some arrested development and that there was a such a special genuine innocence about him that she felt like she wanted to treasure, that they were little kids together and they were able to let out that side of each other that as kids they didn't feel they had the time or chance to do so safely ❤ I love that quality about him and it's so enchanting to me, I feel like I want to protect him 💕🥰 it's a shame that people are so close minded and don't try to understand that aspect...

    Vocals here were still great... and more importantly mostly live. The History tour had alot more playback due to his age/health and energy levels. The BAD tour will forever be Michael Jacksons apex! From vocals to performance ability and energy he was at his peak. If you watch any tour montages, the majority of the footage is from BAD.... and for good reason

    • @bluewhitecars

      I can't quite agree with that. For me he was at his vocal peak here and he sang almost every live song better than on the Bad Tour, especially IJCSLY, Beat It, Working Day And Night and especially Billie Jean, which he sang much more intensely and danced unbelievably much better than on the Bad Tour. Just my opinion. MJ Forever!

    I'm with you, again, brother. The sped up live versions of these bum me out. And I don't buy, as other commenters have suggested, that the purpose was to shorten the duration in order to fit more songs into the show. Michael does plenty of dramatic breaks and interludes that extend the performances. These could easily be cut or trimmed if the intention was to fit in more material. I think Michael just wanted to inject more energy and thought that speeding up the songs was the way to accomplish that. It's an interesting thought exercise, as you mentioned, to imagine if Michael had never left the Jackson 5. I wonder if their mass appeal would have eventually been what Michael's solo career became. I love when you sing briefly here. Only wished it was at normal speed. Btw, that shirt adjustment you did at the very beginning made my heart skip a beat.

    • @for-house-stark
      @for-house-stark 4 часа назад

      I also don't like the sped up songs. But you have to remember that MJs biggest influence was James brown who used to speed up his songs on stage

    • @NebulaMJ
      @NebulaMJ 3 часа назад

      I think it's actually a combination of both. It is to save time so he could include more songs on the setlist, while also bringing more energy. Those long dramatic pauses and extensions during songs are PART of the performance, and he didn't want to sacrifice those (I would imagine anyway). The breaks and interludes between songs are the much needed downtime to rest, hydrate, and change outfits. I agree some songs are a little too fast, but some of them actually work better imo, like Smooth Criminal for example (and a couple more that Seph hasn't uploaded yet so idk if he's seen them, I don't wanna spoil what's coming up)...let's just say there's a certain song that I actually prefer being faster lol

    awwww love this michaels adorable and i just wanna squish his cheeks lmao As for vocal progression it's fascinating i definitely like his later stuff in terms of songs because his voice is deeper and grittier and it just really suits him (Bad, Dangerous, History & Blood on the Dance Floor are my fave albums because of this) vs his older stuff that i still love but he sounds so much younger and it doesn't have as much UMPH if you get me? Obviously it's a style/genre switch too but i just think he aged well in that respect. As for performance for me i much preferred his Bad Tour Era, i feel like he just had so much more energy to give on stage, it was almost inhuman and he was so happy and his voice (like on human nature or rock with you) was just STUNNING it was a good mix of extremely powerful no holds barred live vocals and constant movement were as he got older he got more controlled both in his voice and in his dance which isn't a bad thing because it helped him to maintain over long periods of time and multiple shows with a better technique especially as he aged and it got far more difficult to keep up the same pace but to me he sounded more hoarse and inconsistent as he got into the 90's, more specific in his movements and less spontaneous/energetic. It makes for great dance routines though as you'll see on his History Tour you'll see by that point he's truly mastered dance beyond comprehension and is SO PRECISE it's INSANE like you have ALOT to look forward to with his dancing that's for sure. Obvs by that point in time he was really suffering vocally from exhaustion/over use/laryngitis/lupus so it's unfair to comment on his vocal ability when he had such big health struggles but on the bits you do hear live it's not great which is sad but when you look at This is it in 2009 he was sounding freshhhh so we know he NEVER EVER lost any of his magic and i know he really wanted to do more fully live at that point in time it's just a shame it went how it did. Anyways great vid as always!!

      Dangerous tour 1992 are better than 1993 id say. But its always been like that with every tour. His vocals are beter at the start of a tour and his dancing is better in the middle of the tour. Bad tour 1987 had better vocals than 1988/89. It makes sense cus he gets exhausted singign for 2 hours every few days for months on end.

    take note of his hairstyle...his hair at the top of his head is quite high up...Karen Faye (his makeup and hair stylist) later in a court testimony and also in a rebuttal clip to the bashir special explained that during all these touring and headshaking and dancing like a maniac he continously had surgeries on his scalp as an aftermath from his pepsi burn... and at some point during the Dangerous tour they used baloons underneath his scar tissue to stretch his skin which was so tight bc of the scared tissue. The procedure was very painful and caused the pain meds dependency which he addressed in the strip search statement.

Elvis Presley recorded the song on March 27, 1972, and released it as a single with "Always On My Mind" as the B-side. It reached gold status in the US for sales of over half a million copies. It was listed as a double sided hit reaching #16 on Billboard magazine's Hot Country Singles chart in November 1972.[1] In the UK "Always On My Mind" was the hit song and "Separate Ways" was the B-side. ~ Wikipedia Excerpt from Wikipedia; Richard Mainegra had the following to say about the song. Red West, who co-wrote the song, was one of the 'Memphis Mafia' - Elvis' bodyguards and buddies. At the time, he was heading the publishing company I happened to stumble into a year earlier. One day I had a melody going that Red really liked, so he began writing lyrics to it. Before long, he had a look of real excitement in his eyes as if he knew we had something special going. We started leaning the story line toward Elvis' break-up with Priscilla and how it affected their daughter. He told me when it was finished Elvis was going to cut the song. I let that go in one ear and out the other. I thought, 'No way!' First of all, why would Elvis want to sing about his personal life that was already being dragged through the media every day? And, secondly, there was no way little ole 'small town, green me' was going to get a song cut by the one artist every songwriter in the world wanted to sing their song! Any hoo! Thank you Seph for another splendid review. Love you always 💓. Jennifer ⚡️

    He did love home and family. Graceland was definitely his private sanctuary. But he always loved having friends over, sharing his beautiful home with them. Beautiful song! One of my favorites.

    This song breaks my heart. Lisa Marie couldn’t listen to this one, made her too sad. She said it’s gut wrenching. Several Memphis mafia guys were going through the same thing at the time. The rock and roll lifestyle was a marriage killer. Definitely sad and beautiful.

    Is this the song that Lisa Marie never wanted to listen to, because it reminded her of Elvis and Priscilla's divorce?

      It could be! I know that it was not written about Elvis and Priscilla though

      @@SephPlays I think one of the bodyguards wrote it about his own divorce
